Post title: I can only concur with the complaints
A great client loves using it, but I always hope I can do the job in Trados instead and import the XLIFF file back into XTM, which is little more than a glorified file management system.
Someone above mentioned it, but one of the truly can-i-just-throw-my-PC-out-the-window moments occurs when you try and do a find and replace search, and then the find window goes blank (usually because XTM has marked that term as a misspelling (I think) and then you end up inserting your "replace" term into every blank space in the file, and there's no readily clear way of undoing what you, or better said, XTM has done.
There are some XTM folks on here making nice noises about using constructive feedback to improve the system, but it has barely improved in 5 years. Very much an anti-translator thing. Can't call it a tool, because tools are useful.
And yes,I am currently working on an XTM project. Segments are indicated as matching with segments from other file done by a different translator. Nice to know. It would be even nicer to know how those segments were translated, but the target language field is greyed out.
It's being forced to play whack-a-mole while you're trying to ice a cake.
